Jyotisha in Ramayana (Telugu)

The science of time, started with the observation of the movements of sun, moon, planets and stars evolved over a period of time as Jyotisha Sastra, While the computational part of movement of planets and other celestial bodies is called Siddhanta bhaga , the influence of planets on human beings is covered under Jataka bhaga, and other methods of prediction of future events is covered under Samhita bhaga.

The sbjects of Sakuna Sastra (prediction of future events based on behavioural pattern of birds),svapna sastra (dreams), saamudrika sastra(palmistry), muhurta sastra (fixation of auspicious time, grahachara(movement (planetary movements) all fall under the category of Samhita bhaga. The significance of these branches of jyotisha are illustrated with illustrations from Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavata.
